SAN SALVADOR, July 3, 2008.- Mexico
advanced to the semi finals with a 3-0
victory over Dominican Republic in a
quarterfinal match of the U-21 Norceca Men’s
Volleyball Championship.
Three Mexican players combined to score in
double figures in leading the triumph by
score of 25-21, 25-15, 25-20.
Captain Leonardo Manzo registered 19
points, with 18 positive kills in only 22
tries.
“Today we recovered the confidence back
after we promised our coach that we would
change our playing attitude and we did
that,” said Manzo.
“The guys came we a lot of security, and
we overcame the worst part which was to
show that we could make things happen,”
commented coach Jorge Azair. “I want to
take the chance to congratulate my players
because they showed the real Mexico in
volleyball.”
Francisco Enriques scored 15 points and
Carlos Urias had 11. In the losing cause,
Pedro Garcia totalled 17 points, the only
Dominican in double digits. |
